I began my first relationship at the end of age 17. so for my entire late middle school/high school career i was persuaded i’d be single the rest of my life. it made sense.. if i wasn’t loved when basically everybody else was, then this was just gonna go on the rest of my life. my entire high school was spent with frustrating crushes and timely outfit preparations. literally, the second i stopped looking for a relationship after thinking it was a lost cause, the most perfect one fell right into my lap. all of my favorite physical & superficial attributes in a guy were there, but most importantly everything i wanted personality-wise was there too. when all of my friends are bitching about how controlling or jealous or SOMETHING that their boyfriends are, i sit there silently because i have nothing to complain about. nobody has ever made me feel so special, or laughed at all of my weird quirks, or just enjoyed everything i did or every move i made. none of those other guys would play with my hair, or love my baking, or squeeze me when i’m asleep, or laugh at the fact i can’t ride a bike, or surprise me with a Tiffany necklace on my birthday, or hug me from behind and kiss my nekc to make me squeal. reflecting on these 9 months made me realize something, thank you universe for not making any of my mediocre high school crushes a “thing”. because if they were a thing, i would never have found my perfect relationship. i love you so much Matt, thank you for being mine<3
